How the Date Difference Is Calculated
The difference between two dates is computed by first finding the whole-year and whole-month differences, then adjusting for remaining days. This approach correctly handles leap years and varying month lengths. The total days count is calculated as the absolute number of calendar days between the two dates (inclusive of leap days), which is then used to derive total weeks and total months.
